The Scottish cyclist born in Malta lived also in Hong Kong, Biarritz, Monaco…
Born twice. Once as a cyclist in Malta and second birth thanks to special people like his Nicole, France or Jonathan Vaughters as a world leader in Girona (Catalonia) . Definitively he deserves what he has now, a happy father and husband, a true leader in cycling and a neighbour in Girona.
The book and the best ever lasagna in Vall del Terri
I met Nicole pursuing her to write about Girona greenways since she wrote so well for Catalonia Today magazine I read the book after meeting Nicole and before having the honour to enter their home to have a gorgeous lasagna with my wife, Mars and @krls . After reading it I admire the pure cycling and even more David, the person and his family.
(Link at the book pic to buy it! Just buy it!!!!!)
The Observer said about “Racing Through The Dark”:
“The greatest achievement of David Millar’s book is that you believe in cycling again”
Great TV report
Time ago, I was lucky to be part of Informe Robinson crew when we did a report on a NBA star new life, that’s why I knew that a report on David done by them would be amazing…. I can’t stop watching Informe Robinson about David story (click on pic):
Why Girona? because Girona emociona and Live Love Costa Brava
Girona and Costa Brava is the paradise for cycling. The area is the hub for many cyclists and professional cycling teams. The weather, the best gastronomy lead by Restaurant El Celler de Can Roca , #1 in The World’s 50 Best by Restaurant Magazine , the geography where you can go from the sea to a 2.000 meters height in less than 150 km, and beautiful cities and villages has converted our location in one of the most famous places in Mediaterranean Sea.
Here is a postcard by Alex Rasmussen (Danish pro living in Girona) with Dan Martin (half Irish half Catalan) and David
Here is a TV commercial created by Garmin with Team Garmin-Sharp Barracuda working hard around the globe all connected by Garmin around the globe, most of them in Girona and Costa Brava.
The Happy Ending
David Millar: “Cycling was made of epic nature, very much human. It was not about results, it was about the journey” …………….and that was his journey, a huge Alpe d’Huez that he climbed and succeed.
I think that David doesn’t give a ***** what people say, but for sure not what these ones said:
Jonathan Vaugthers: “I admire him maybe more than anyone else in the world of cycling”
Christian VandeVelde: “I learnt from him to never give up”
Nicole: “.…………but it still has a happy ending”
Nicole and David are building a new home with a great cellar, in the same area where they live now, between “caminos”.
